Summery 2017
By James Flinn, ACHE Regent

After a nice long Fourth of July weekend I hope that all of you had the opportunity to visit with friends and family, enjoy your favorite pastime or hobbies and re-charged your battery for the remainder of summer. Typically we are all faced with reduced volume that is accompanied by a need to focus on managing our areas of responsibility accordingly. Couple these factors with the uncertainty coming from Washington, D.C. and you have the potential for your decision making to be compromised.

These times can be challenging and if not navigated carefully can stifle innovation, business growth and professional development. These are the times when we as leaders must not take our eyes off the long view. Care must be taken to preserve the good works that have been established throughout the earlier part of the year.

For me, during these challenging times, I rely on my own personal values, along with the mission, vision and values of both my organization and those of ACHE. Using these documents as a compass, I feel confident that I will continue to lead my organization towards “True North.” For my organization that includes providing the best place to work for our physicians and staff while remaining uncompromising in our pursuit of outstanding quality of care for our patients.
All the best,
